FICO Scores

Perhaps the best-know credit scoring system is FICO, so named because it uses sofware developed by Fair, Isaac and company(FICO). The three major credit reporting agencies uses this system when providing scores to lenders, although each calls it a different name. At Equifax, the score is know as Beacon; at TransUnion, it is Empirica; and at Experian. it's the Experian/Fair, Isaac Risk score.

FICO score range from 300 to 850. The higher the score, the lower the predicted credit risk for lenders.
